Price Guide

The cost of each painting will vary, but this page will help you estimate the cost of your perfect painting.  Each painting will require a non-refundable deposit up front and is subject to a 75% kill fee (see FAQ section for details.)

Basic Costs

The basic cost of each painting is found by adding the Deposit to the Work Cost. We'll spend a good amount of time discussing these costs so that we can agree on a plan of action for the painting.

Deposit
Each painting will have a non-refundable deposit before any work begins.  This ensures that I am able to buy top quality materials for your painting!

Work Cost
I charge a Day Rate of $200/day.  Prices will be based on my estimate of total time needed for each painting.  The time for each painting will vary depending on size, subject, level of detail, and your budget.  We'll walk through everything together so that we can reach a price your comfortable with.

Sizing

The size of the painting will effect the overall price of the deposit.  This is just to help cover the cost of materials.

Small (below 18")
Small paintings do not exceed 18" in any direction, and will require a $100 deposit. Estimate $300+ for small paintings.

Medium (18" x 3')
A medium painting falls somewhere between 18" and 3' and require a $150 deposit. Estimate $450 - $1,000 for medium paintings.

Large (3' - 6')
Larger painting will have a much greater cost for the surface and will require considerably more paint, so they begin with a $250 deposit. Estimate $800 - $2,500 for larger paintings.

Extra Large (6' and above)

Anything exceeding 6' will need to be negotiated on a case-by-case since that will greatly effect material cost and the amount of time needed.  Please contact me if you're interested in a real statement piece!

Style

I'm a fairly versatile artist, and I'm here to help you make the painting YOU want.  I tend to work in a more realistic style, but I'm always open to shaking things up!

I include this in the pricing guide because of how stylistic choices can effect the amount of time taken.

Are you a hip, laid-back person who's a fan of striking backgrounds with a more pop-art style?  That usually takes less time to produce, and I'll charge accordingly.

Are you a connoisseur of the finer things who wants their taste and rococo opulence to drip from every corner of their photorealistic portrait?  I love detailed work, so bring it on!  It may take longer, so there will be an increase in time and expense.

Time

Time is money, as they say, and painting often takes a bit of time.  Consider your options and how they may effect the overall price.  Again, we'll talk about all of this and I work hard to keep in your budget.

Number of Faces
There's no hard and fast rule, but a general rule is that you'll be adding an extra $300/face. I always take time to make sure that each individual expression shines through.

Background
Backgrounds can be incredibly quick, or painstakingly detailed, depending on your preference.  The more complicated the background, the more time it will take, and that may extend cost.

Extra Revisions
One revision is included in the purchase cost, but we can discuss the cost of additional revisions if the need arises.

Confused?  No worries!  Let's walk through an example so I can give you an idea of my thought process.  If you are wanting a small painting of you and your mom with a solid colored background you can expect to pay around $500. ($100 deposit + two days of work = $500).  If you wanted that painting with an ornate/lifelike background you can expect the price to be around $700 (adding on an extra day's work for the background details)

Now, that same picture of you and mom, but in a large size and with a full background would be closer to $1,350.  ($250 deposit + 5 days work + additional $100 for large wooden panel.)  Again, these are just examples, and things may vary depending on the level of detail you'd like, but I hope this helps you gauge the possible cost.  Feel free to visit the FAQ page or contact me if you have any questions!
